So much has happened in the past few years and I (Danielle) haven’t had the heart to post.
On December 8th, 2019, we lost Keith Baal to a heart attack.
We already hadn’t rehearsed in a while because I had gone back to school and was taking a break. Then, in 2020, still in school, the pandemic hit. Matt and I didn’t practice for a long time. When we did start up again, I wasn’t yet ready for Morning Metaphor. We started a cover band called Flamingo Division and practiced, social distance style, in my garage that summer.
Then Flamingo Division got another guitarist, my neighbor, Bryant. And we rehearsed until it was so cold that we couldn’t feel our fingers, and shuttered for the winter.
That winter, my partner, Bob, learned the drums. Like REALLY learned them! In the springtime, he joined Flamingo Division and we were off to a good start, just playing fun covers and getting a break from seriousness.
Then, in the summer of 2021, we resurrected Morning Metaphor with Matt on guitar (and other stringed instruments) and Bob on drums. There were huge, Vibram-minimalist drummer shoes to fill, but Bob has been holding his own.
And there you have it. We’ve been rehearsing again since the summer of 2021, and into the winter (all vaccinated and we have a cozy basement rehearsal space). We may be ready to play out this summer, we’ll see. Also, we have new songs! Matt and I have been writing together and it’s a really cool vibe!
If you’re reading this, thank you for your interest! As of this writing, we’ve had TEN years of Morning Metaphor! Here’s to another ten!
