We had a blast returning to the Lannon Car show this July! Guest singer Sarah Krieger once again joined in with some lovely harmonies. 🙂

Welcome, Dan!
Our newest member, Dan, is already making us better! Not only is he extremely skilled and learning the songs very quickly, but his feedback is knowledgeable and valuable! Dan has been playing bass guitar since 2012, though he’s had a lifelong love for music. He’s previously played in various social and church groups, toured for a year as a part of Histo, and still plays in the Racing Pulses (since 2019). When he’s not jamming out or chilling with his awesome family, Dan enjoys rock climbing, cooking, and long walks on the beach.
Make Music Madison: Playing at Talbots Gallery at 6pm on June 21st
Come check out our first show of the year, and the first show with new bassist, Dan!
Rage Club Show on July 8th
Morning Metaphor will be playing Rage Club in Peoria, IL on July 8th. Longtime friend of the band, Sarah Krieger, will be bringing her beautiful vocal harmonies to the stage once more. Plus, we’re super excited to hear the opening band, First Kiss!
Many, Many Changes
So much has happened in the past few years and I (Danielle) haven’t had the heart to post.
On December 8th, 2019, we lost Keith Baal to a heart attack.
We already hadn’t rehearsed in a while because I had gone back to school and was taking a break. Then, in 2020, still in school, the pandemic hit. Matt and I didn’t practice for a long time. When we did start up again, I wasn’t yet ready for Morning Metaphor. We started a cover band called Flamingo Division and practiced, social distance style, in my garage that summer.
Then Flamingo Division got another guitarist, my neighbor, Bryant. And we rehearsed until it was so cold that we couldn’t feel our fingers, and shuttered for the winter.
That winter, my partner, Bob, learned the drums. Like REALLY learned them! In the springtime, he joined Flamingo Division and we were off to a good start, just playing fun covers and getting a break from seriousness.
Then, in the summer of 2021, we resurrected Morning Metaphor with Matt on guitar (and other stringed instruments) and Bob on drums. There were huge, Vibram-minimalist drummer shoes to fill, but Bob has been holding his own.
And there you have it. We’ve been rehearsing again since the summer of 2021, and into the winter (all vaccinated and we have a cozy basement rehearsal space). We may be ready to play out this summer, we’ll see. Also, we have new songs! Matt and I have been writing together and it’s a really cool vibe!
If you’re reading this, thank you for your interest! As of this writing, we’ve had TEN years of Morning Metaphor! Here’s to another ten!

Welcome, Matt!
Dear friends,
I’d like to take a moment to introduce you to our newest member, Matt Finesilver, a lover of cats, snakes, isopods, arachnids, terrible movies, and music. Matt and I met last year and are constantly trying to out-pun each other. But not in a super competitive way. Matt plays guitar, banjo, and eight string ukelele as well as the heart strings of snake lovers with that photo, whoa there, son. NOT ONLY THAT, Matt is awesome at coming up with chord progressions and we are working on new material RIGHT NOW! So hold on to your butts, we’re going to have a helluva 2020 with our new friend Matt!

Art In Show in February 2019
Keith and I had the pleasure of performing at Art In (Madison, WI) with the Dumpster Doves in February of 2019. Vocal harmonies were provided by longtime friend Sarah Krieger. A raucous time was had by all!
Art-In Show on March 28th!
Gearing up for a badass 2019!
Hey friends,
It’s been a while since we’ve performed and there are a few good reasons and a lot of dumb reasons for that. We’ve taken some time off, tried on some new bandmates, and generally just goofed off a lot more.
That said, I’m excited to announce that we’re already loading up our calendar for a wonderful, music-filled 2019! Hope to see you around Madison sometime this year!
xoxo
